Read MoreCandra Kylar started out in entertainment journalism and, after becoming obsessed with paranormal thrillers, decided to start penning some of her own. She's originally from New York but moved to the Midwest a few years ago and fell in love with the countrysides.
Read MoreWhen I picked up the Midnight Library by Matt Haig, I was not quite sure what to expect. I got the hardback for Christmas, and had heard rave reviews on bookstagram, and yet somehow, I still was not sold. Read More2020 has been a crappy year for most people in one way or another, but it’s also been a year that’s given us a heck of a lot of time stuck inside. I don’t know about you, but this means that I got a ton of reading done during lockdown, and despite 2020 bringing a lot of shittyness, it DID bring some fabulous books into my life that i am super grateful for! So without further ado, i present my top 5 countdown reads of 2020!
Read MoreIt’s the most wonderful time of the year, well according to Andy Williams anyhow, and one of my favourite traditions around the holidays is snuggling in on a chilly evening with some hot chocolate, my oodie, and some of my favourite childhood classics. I don’t know what it is about some of these books, but they make me feel like i’m relaxing into a hot bath at the end of a long day. Not only that, but some of these books most definitely made me into the writer i am today, so attention must be paid.
Here are my top 5 childrens classic rereads for adults!
Read MoreI just want to start off by saying that this series has been undoubtedly my favourite of 2020, and I’ve read A LOT of books this year. (Thank you lockdown… at least you were good for my TBR if nothing else.) I haven’t read very many books based in Russian culture, an exeption being The Witches of St. Petersburg by Imogen Edward-Jones- a book which I also loved by the way.
Read MoreIt’s no secret that I read A LOT, but what’s surprised me this year is how I’ve sort of fallen in love with horror. I’m not a huge horror movie fan, so the fact that I love the genre is a bit of an oddity. Perhaps then, the reason I’ve gotten into all things spooky, supernatural, and horror when it comes to fiction has something to do with the fact that I’ve been treated to some incredible books this year!
So, without further ado, here are just a few of my favourites!
